The Data
“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation.” – Glenn Close
Now more than ever, mental health is on the forefront of our minds. With constant strains on our energy, focus, and mental fortitude creating peace of mind can be near impossible as a man in today's day and age. Just take a second to look at the numbers below. They reflect a mindset around masculinity that has been literally killing the men of our community. As one of our members mentioned in a meeting...
"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." Henry David Thoreau
This community is designed to allow men an opportunity to overcome the "quiet desperation" and achieve fulfillment through sharing and brotherhood.
Depression
Over 6 Million men suffer from depression per year, but male depression often goes under diagnosed.
Anxiety
More than 3 Million men in the US have panic disorder, agoraphobia, or any other phobia. 2.3 million Americans are affected by bipolar disorder and an equal amount of men and women develop this illness.
Mental Illness
40% of men won't talk about thier mental health.
Suicide
Recent North American research consistently indicates that men make up around 75% of suicide and 75% of substance use disorder (SUD) cases.
Drug Abuse
There were 106,699 drug-involved overdose deaths reported in the U.S. in 2021; 69% of cases occurred among males.
